After a special meeting of the board’s working committee, the BCCI decided to grant the ICL players time till May 31 to severe all their ties with the unauthorized league, and grab an opportunity to play in the domestic circuit from June 1.

“The BCCI has taken a decision to grant amnesty to players who have been associated the ICL. They have been given time till May 31 during which they need to sever all ties with the ICL and come back to the BCCI and inform the board,” BCCI President Shashank Manohar told media persons after the meeting.

“We have taken a further decision on those players and the support staff of the ICL that they will not be able to play international cricket or given international assignments for a period of one year from the date they sever their allegiance with the ICL,” Manohar added.

The IPL had announced the sale of online tickets for the second season in South Africa with the tickets for the first two matches priced between R 50 for students to R 200/150 for the grand stands, inclusive of the opening ceremony. Kingsmead in Durban hosts 16 games, the most for a single venue, and the tickets are priced between R 25 for students to R 150 for the grand stands.
The organisers have focused on making the tickets affordable, in order to attract youngsters to the event. The tournament had to be moved out of India due to the general elections in the country.

The prices are relatively cheaper in the smaller venues like East London, Port Elizabeth, Kimberley and Bloemfontein, ranging between R 10 and R 75.

"I hope fans all around the Rainbow Nation and from India continue to display their solidarity and acceptance of the Indian Premier League in this manner. I look forward to an exciting season of cricket and entertainment in the days to come." he concluded.

Michael Hussey would not play in IPL's second edition

Michael Hussey will become the latest Australian to withdraw from this year's IPL in an effort to reinvigorate himself ahead of the Ashes. Hussey is one of only two Australians, along with Brad Haddin, to have played in all 12 Tests and 10 one-day internationals since last year's tour of India, and was due to join the Chennai Super Kings after the limited-overs series against Pakistan next month.

Hussey is mired in the deepest trough of his international career - he reached 50 once in the six Tests against South Africa - and is desperate to rediscover peak form in time for the Ashes. In addition to the IPL, he is also believed to be considering standing down from Australia's six matches against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates as he seeks to rejuvenate both body and mind. He will play the one-day series in South Africa, which begins in Durban on Friday.

IPL and elections timings clash IPL 2009 to be hosted in South Africa

The 2009 Indian premier league season will happen outside India. South Africa and England are the 2 likely venues where the matches can be held. South africa holds the upper hand though.

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi however said that the matches would be held on the scheduled dates. Neither would the timings change and the Indian audience will be able to watch the matches as scheduled according to the IST (Indian standard time).

BCCI President Shashank Manohar, addressing the press after the meeting said: "We have been forced to move the IPL out of India. My apologies to the people of India, who have loved the event. But the attitude of the government has forced us to take this step."

BCCI will come out with the venue details in the next 2-3 days. Shashank Manohar said, that many countries are interested in hosting the lucrative Twenty20 event.

The timings for the indian audience to watch the IPL matches will be 4 Pm and 8Pm IST

However i predict it would be south africa if IPL commisioner Lalit Modi considers costs as big issue.
