Harbhajan Singh banned for 11 IPL matches

Slapping Sreesanth after the match proved very painful for harbhajan's IPL career as he is now banned for 11 IPL matches and he should start practicing for next IPL as chances of his team Mumbai Indians reaching semifinals look bleak in this IPl season.

The Ex captain of Mumbai Team - Harbhajn singh was found guilty for slapping Sreesanth after match against punjab, So he has been banned from playing next 11 IPL matches

Match referee Farokh Engineer found Harbhajan guilty of Level 4.2 offence and imposed a 11-match IPL ban on him with immediate effect. Harbhajan pleaded guilty and admitted that he slapped Sreesanth after the IPL match in Mohali. The hearing was held in ITC Maurya in Delhi. The 11-match ban means Harbhajan won't be playing in any IPL matches this season unless Mumbai Indians reach the semi finals.

Harabajan Singh suspended from Indian Premier League

The mumbai indians captain has been suspended from ipl for hitting sreesanth , yesterday harbhajan slapped sreesanth & because of which sreesanth started crying .Harbhajan was earlier slapped with a show-cause notice by the BCCI which gave him time till Monday to explain his conduct but bowing to media and public outrage, he was temporarily suspended till the disciplinary hearing before Farokh Engineer, who was the Match Referee in the tie between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians.

The suspension means Harbhajan Singh, who is the stand-in captain for the Mumbai Indians, will not be able to play for the team against Deccan Chargers tomorrow in Mumbai.
Announcing the suspension, IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi said that based on prima facie video evidence as seen and reviewed by the match adjudicator and referee Farokh Engineer from the tapes provided by Sony & TWI, a decision has been reached to suspend with immediate effect Harbhajan Singh of the Mumbai Indians pending the inquiry into the incident on Monday, April 28, 2008.

As per the ICC Code of Conduct, slapping a fellow player constitutes a level 4 offence and could lead to a life ban or a minimum ban of five Tests to 10 ODIs.
BCCI President Sharad Pawar said that he had told the IPL Chairman if there was prima facie evidence of wrong-doing on the part of any player, the IPL should take immediate action against the player.

Breaking News! India’s ace spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been in the news for all wrong reasons, yet again did it. Harbhajan allegedly slapped Sreesanth after the IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians at Mohali. Sreesanth was seen crying after the match. He was consoled by the teammates. Kings XI skipper Yuvraj Singh and coach Tom Moody confirmed the news. Moody went to the extent of saying that Harbhajan’s behavior is intolerable.

Latest reports suggest that Harbhajan later went to the dressing room and apologised to Sreesanth. But Harbhajan is unlikely to escape the BCCI hammer. IPL (Indian Premier League - How it all happened

Cricket was earlier a very lenghthy game with shortest form ODI's duration ranging from 8 - 10 hours . it was a time consuming model so in order to bring the excitement into cricket as in case of the English Premier League of Football and to bring cricket on a much broader spectrum BCCI decided to start Indian Premier League (IPL) on the lines of EPL and other much famous games played world wide.

So IPL commitee was made under the chairmanship of MR. Lalit Modi and it started on 18/4/2008 in bangalore with decent opening ceremony.

IPL History:

The BCCI launched the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the lines of football’s English Premier League and the National Basketball League (NBA) of the US.
The IPL is a professional Twenty20 cricket league created and promoted by the BCCI and backed by the ICC. The Twenty20 league made it's debut in April 2008, with eight teams comprising a minimum of 16 players each. The league will last for 44 days and will involve 59 matches.
The IPL works on a franchise-system based on the American style of hiring players and transfers. These franchises were put for auction, where the highest bidder won the rights to own the team, representing each city.
The auction for the same took place on January 24, 2008 and the total base price for the auction was $400 million. The auction went on to fetch $723.59 million.
The Mumbai franchise owned by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) was the most expensive franchise - fetching $111.9 million closely followed by Vijay Mallya’s United Breweries which paid $111.6 million for the Bangalore franchise .
Media house Deccan Chronicle won the Hyderabad chapter of the IPL for $107 million, while India Cements’ Chennai franchise cost $91 million.
Bollywood also made its presence felt with two of its leading stars bagging the ownership of their respective teams - Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s Red Chillies Entertainment buying out Kolkata for $75.09, while Preity Zinta and her beau Ness Wadia bought the Mohali team for $76 million.
