Indian squad for World Cup 2011

The selector's of BCCI announced the 15 players for Cricket World Cup 2011, 14 members remained as expected while selection of R Ashwin, which was backed by Srikant(Chairman of selector's)

Keeping in mind that the world cup is being held in Indian subcontinent the selector's have picked up 3 spinners and four medium pacers.

The 15 members are as follows:

MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla.

It can be recalled that Piyush Chawla played his last ODI in October 2008.

Sehwag ruled out with shoulder injury

Vice captain Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ICC World T20 and will return to India for a shoulder injury immediately. It has also led to a fiasco between Viru and captain MS Dhoni as the latter thinks that viru hide his fitness condition from the selectors.

Sehwag has been on the sidelines ever since the team arrived in England and missed both of India’s first two warm-up matches as well as the first game against bangaldesh.

In his absence Rohit Sharma has been opening the innings and has enjoyed a fair bit of success. Sehwag did bat in the nets on Tuesday but ended the session abruptly after feeling uncomfortable.
